PHOENIX — Approximately 13.25 pounds of fentanyl pills, estimated to be worth $1.2 million was seized in a traffic stop Tuesday, the Gila County Sheriff’s Office said.

The bust was made at the Tonto Apache Tribal Market after the driver gave Gila County Drug, Gang and Violent Crimes task force officers permission to search the vehicle.

Two men were arrested for transportation and possession of narcotics, along with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jesus Valenzuela-Tapia, 37, and Irvin Montano-Valenzuela, 24, were detained and booked into the Gila County Jail in Payson.

The Tonto Apache Police Department assisted in the arrest.
