SRP board approves rate increase

The board that governs the Salt River Project has agreed to raise electric rates by 4.9 percent, effective May 1. The Tempe-based utility said that when the increase is fully implemented, an average monthly bill for a customer on the Basic Price Plan will rise by about .95.
